EWA enhances new connection application services for low, high-voltage electricity

The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has launched an enhanced service allowing customers to apply for new low and high-voltage electricity connections through simplified and digitally enabled procedures, as part of wider government efforts to improve service quality and streamline processes.

Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, EWA President, said the initiative reflects the Authority’s strategic focus on digital transformation, aimed at accelerating service delivery, improving operational efficiency and enhancing the overall customer experience.

The upgraded service introduces three structured pathways, depending on project readiness: cases with existing infrastructure, applications requiring new infrastructure, and projects implemented by private developers. Each pathway clearly defines requirements and responsibilities, helping to reduce processing time and improve efficiency.

The development also includes automation and system integration, enabling faster processing, real-time application tracking and direct customer updates, thereby strengthening service reliability and transparency.

The initiative forms part of a broader national programme to modernise government services, under which more than 1,300 services have been documented and published, with around 800 re-engineered across various sectors to improve efficiency, service quality and support Bahrain’s digital transformation goals.
