Minister attends GOPIO conference in Bahrain



Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza attended the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) conference held in Bahrain from January 6 to 9.

Members of the Indian community from around the world took part in the event, held at the Gulf Hotel.

Dr. Mirza, in his keynote address, welcomed the holding of the conference in Bahrain and stressed the keenness of the government to strengthen and further deepen relations with India, especially in the fields of electricity, water and renewable energy.

The minister thanked the organizers of this event, which he said is a unique platform at the international level for the strategic networks of businessmen from the Indian community since it involved discussions on the aspirations of the people and reviewed trade and investment opportunities, while promoting India as a health destination.

He said the event also highlighted the role of innovation in entrepreneurship. He expressed pride in Bahrain hosting the event that he said contributes to building bridges of cooperation between the two countries in all economic and developmental fields, and strives to enhance bilateral relations.

The Minister also felicitated a number of participants for excellence in their respective fields and their contributions to countries where they reside.
Dr. Mirza later released a book, "Advancing the role of executive management", written by Chief Executive Officer of Banagas, Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. The publication talks about the most important national figures related to oil and gas and contains a summary of his personal experience in the executive management.

Shaikh Mohammed thanked the minister for his efforts in elevating Bahrain's stature in various sectors and fields, especially the electricity, water and renewable energy sectors, and wished him continued progress and success.
