​​​​​​Following procedures are to be followed by Electricity & Water Authority (EWA) customers in order to mitigate the effects of excessive reactive power within their premises and to avoid reactive power charges compensation:

  1. ​Consult EWA/ Electricity Distribution Directorate (EDD) suppliers of Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) Capacitor Panels in the kingdom and an approved EDD Grade ONE Contractor for the necessary procedures/steps to be taken.                                                                  
  2. Appointed ​consultant/ Contractor can submit the required documents such as calculations, type test certificates, single line diagram, general arrangement drawing for EDD’s review and approval. (Calculation for selecting the APFC capacitor panel for the project, with respect to the approved load, shall be reviewed and approved by EDD, Planning Section).                                                                                      
  3. Test requirements:                       
              3.1   Fully assembled APFC Capacitor panel shall be type tested in any of the EDD Approved Independent Laboratory.
              3.2  Functional units like Capacit​or/reactor and incomer isolater/MCCB​ shall also be type tested in any of the EDD Approved Independent Laboratory.
                                                                     
  4. After the necessary approvals are granted, Customer’s EDD approved contractor can install the panel within customer premises after      necessary coordination with EDD Construction Section.
